Aronia Apple Pie

Aronia Apple Pie
Prep Time: 15 minutesCook Time: 50 minutesYield: 1 pie

Ingredients

  • 4 cups sliced apples
  • 2 cups aronia berries
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • Double pie crust

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 400°F.

Prepare a 9-inch pie plate by lining it with the bottom pie crust.

Combine the sliced apples, aronia berries, sugar, cinnamon, and flour. Toss until the fruit is coated and the flour is completely integrated. Pour the mixture evenly into the pie shell. Place the top crust over the filling, then trim and crimp the edges to seal. Cut several small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking.

Bake for approximately 50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling through the vents. If the edges of the crust begin to brown too quickly, cover them loosely with strips of aluminum foil for the remainder of the baking time.

Tip: Serve warm on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for a classic dessert.
